Financial Assistance For Single Mothers

There are more and more single mothers in our modern world. They are a growing population because of the explosion of divorce.

This means that this group of people need to know about the special financial assistance for single mothers that is available to them. There are a lot of places located at the state level which can help single moms get what they need.

Where To Get Financial Assistance For Single Mothers

Most single mothers are going to want to return to school if they have not completed their degree. The reason for this is simply because they are going to make a lot more money if they get their degree. It is not easy for anyone to pay for education anymore in the modern world, so it should be no surprise that financial help is popular among those who need it. There are a variety of scholarships that are popping up to help out this population get back to school. The schools are on board with this whole process because they want all of those single moms coming back in to their system as well.

Where To Find The Help You Need

Many moms are going to gain access to financial aid for single mothers in the same way that anyone else would. They just fill out the form known as the FAFSA. This is the federal government form that allows the government to figure out which people are in financial need. It is their way of figuring out how they are going to dole out the money that they have set aside for education. It only takes a little bit of time to fill out this form. If you are filling it out for the first time, then you are likely to find that it will take an hour or less to complete. Once you have completed it once, then the system will save your information and allow you to plug it in year after year automatically. It will then only take you a few moments to complete the form each year.

Other Financial Assistance For Single Mothers Options

There are other opportunities that are available to single mothers. There are some cases where private companies will fund scholarships to help single mothers get back to school. It is a way for them to show some good will. However, you are going to find that they typically have some kind of academic requirement in order to gain access to their funds.

This is simply because of the fact that they would have too many people to select from if they do not do it this way. You might have to write an essay or something to have a chance. It is important to look up the specific requirements of each individual opportunity. This is a great way to gain financial help for single moms, but you have to make sure that you are doing it right.

Final thoughts

An education can help improve your life in so many ways. It is vital that you work to make sure that you get that degree in your hand.

I am a single mom of four (two twin boys which will be 9 in 5 days, a 5 yr old boy, & a 3 yr old girl), actually am in my last quarter of school, and used all of my state grants and just found out that not only am I externing an hour away from my home, but with no job, no money, and now because I’ve used all my assistance, I can’t even pay for this quarter’s books!! I’m externing as a Medical Assistant, and financially, things have been this way awhile. I’m broke, I’m young, but I feel like I’m fighting and fighting to the top and it almost feels sometimes like I’ll never get there to give my kids the life they need. Thats all I want, however; I can’t find any grants that will only supplement a last quarter for a single mother. I really need help, and appreciate any information.

Hi Nicole. Being from New York, you can go to the following website: . It’s the NYS Higher Education Services Group. They help you find ways to pay for college which include finding scholarships, grants, and more. You’ll most likely need to fill out a FAFSA (which is free) and they can help you with that. If you need anything else, please let me know.

Hello, reading all of the posts on this site lets me know that I’m not alone. I am also a single mother of four. The father of my children has been incarcerated for some time now. I am currently in school full time, and have no job. The unemployment benefits I receive is not nearly enough to support my family. My electricity will soon be turned off if I don’t find a way to pay. I only have one day. My car payment is also due in two days. I almost feel as though I’m drowning at times. I know and understand that this is a result of past choices that I have made, but I really need a lot of help and a lot of prayers. I am currently a junior in school and will obtain my Bachelors Degree in English in May 2013. I am really excited, just hope that I make it till then. Any feedback would be great. Hopefully, I can encourage someone as well.

  13. we need a miracle says:

I have always been a hardworking mother and provided for my children with no help but lately everything has went wrong and continues with each day that passes. Who do you have to be to qualify for those miracles you see on tv. Where do you. Have to live. Who do you have to know. I have reached out to so many charities organizations and even people but it seems no one can help. I lost a job I loved after two years for reasons beyond control. Shortly after lost my car in floodwater. Now on top of it all in facing eviction. With no money and no where to go. How do you tell your children there will be no Christmas and no place to live. Imagine the pain of waking up every day to see them suffer because of your short comings. Despite the odds my children are honor roll students and they deserve so much more than I can provide for them in my own. I just dont want us to end up in the streets. I have been filling out applications day in and day out but no mercy or miracles for us. Just hardship after hardship. Downfall after downfall. Non existent child support. Though I keep trying it seems like a dead end road. They are what keeps me going. The med tech training I have is basically worthless without Cna license but no one tells you. That they just want your money. I know I will find another job soon if I just keep my head up and keep moving forward. I just need a little help. Someone help us please. We need first months rent and deposit and whatever else someone can provide us with to help us. Please help us or help us find someone who can. I know there is a heart left in this world. I took all the pride in me to do this but I have these beautiful and innocent children to think about.
