They are a growing population because of the explosion of divorce in our modern world.

This means that this group of people need to know about the special financial assistance for single mothers that is available to them. There are alot of places located at the state level which can help single moms get what they need.

Where To Get Financial Assistance For Single Mothers

Most single mothers are going to want to return to school if they have not completed their degree. The reason for this is simply because they are going to make a lot more money if they get their degree. It is not easy for anyone to pay for education anymore in the modern world, so it should be no surprise that financial assistance for single mothers is popular among those who need it. There are a variety of scholarships for single mothers that are popping up to help out this population get back to school. The schools are on board with this whole process because they want all of those single mothers coming back in to their system as well.

Gaining Financial Assistance For Single Mothers

A single mother is going to gain access to financial aid for single mothers in the same way that anyone else would. They just fill out the form known as the FAFSA. This is the federal government form that allows the government to figure out which people are in financial need. It is their way of figuring out how they are going to dole out the money that they have set aside for education. It only takes a little bit of time to fill out this form. If you are filling it out for the first time, then you are likely to find that it will take an hour or less to complete. Once you have completed it once, then the system will save your information and allow you to plug it in year after year automatically. It will then only take you a few moments to complete the form each year.

Other Financial Assistance For Single Mothers Options

There are other opportunities that are available to single mothers. There are some cases where private companies will fund scholarships to help single mothers get back to school. It is a way for them to show some good will. However, you are going to find that they typically have some kind of academic requirement in order to gain access to their funds.

This is simply because of the fact that they would have too many people to select from if they do not do it this way. You might have to write an essay or something to have a chance. It is important to look up the specific requirements of each individual opportunity. This is a great way to gain financial assistance for single mothers, but you have to make sure that you are doing it right.

I am a single mom of four (two twin boys which will be 9 in 5 days, a 5 yr old boy, & a 3 yr old girl), actually am in my last quarter of school, and used all of my state grants and just found out that not only am I externing an hour away from my home, but with no job, no money, and now because I’ve used all my assistance, I can’t even pay for this quarter’s books!! I’m externing as a Medical Assistant, and financially, things have been this way awhile. I’m broke, I’m young, but I feel like I’m fighting and fighting to the top and it almost feels sometimes like I’ll never get there to give my kids the life they need. Thats all I want, however; I can’t find any grants that will only supplement a last quarter for a single mother. I really need help, and appreciate any information.
    Sincerely,
Last Quarter Medtech College- Greenwood student

Hi Nicole. Being from New York, you can go to the following website: http://www.hesc.com/content.nsf . It’s the NYS Higher Education Services Group. They help you find ways to pay for college which include finding scholarships, grants, and more. You’ll most likely need to fill out a FAFSA (which is free) and they can help you with that. If you need anything else, please let me know.

Hello, reading all of the posts on this site lets me know that I’m not alone. I am also a single mother of four. The father of my children has been incarcerated for some time now. I am currently in school full time, and have no job. The unemployment benefits I receive is not nearly enough to support my family. My electricity will soon be turned off if I don’t find a way to pay. I only have one day. My car payment is also due in two days. I almost feel as though I’m drowning at times. I know and understand that this is a result of past choices that I have made, but I really need a lot of help and a lot of prayers. I am currently a junior in school and will obtain my Bachelors Degree in English in May 2013. I am really excited, just hope that I make it till then. Any feedback would be great. Hopefully, I can encourage someone as well.
